Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe management strategies for depression, particularly treatment-resistant depression, in patients with comorbid medical illnesses
  • Outline strategies for identification and treatment of anxiety disorders in patients with comorbid medical illnesses
  • Describe evidence-based evaluation and management strategies for patients who have psychophysiological disorders (e.g. functional gastrointestinal disorders, functional movement disorders, behavioral spells)
  • Identify evidence-based pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments for illness anxiety
  • Identify unique elements of managing clinical psychiatric disorders in patients with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
  • Recognize challenges in the emerging use of medicinal marijuana and outpatient management of chronic pain
