This interactive course will focus on recent developments in the diagnosis, assessment, and multimodal treatment planning for pediatric mood disorders and related conditions such as suicidal behavior, addressing bullying, substance abuse, and trauma. Course faculty will emphasize an evidence based approach and highlight cutting edge research findings with regards to treatment such as structured psychotherapeutic techniques, recent pharmacologic research, and emerging brain stimulation therapies in adolescent depression. The morning session will include video vignettes to guide interactive, focused didactic sessions. This will be followed by an afternoon session composed of breakout sessions to reinforce and elaborate on group didactic sessions. These sessions will also facilitate challenging case discussions (generated by participants and course faculty) and treatment planning for children and adolescents with affective disorders.
