This course covers topics related to the diagnosis and management of Marfan Syndrome and related disorders. It will be held in conjunction with the 25th National Marfan Foundation Annual Conference, August 6-9, 2009. As an often non-recognized disease, this course will help physicians identify symptoms and treatment options. Awareness of the condition by primary care professionals as well as specialists facilitates early recognition and follow up of cardiac involvement that is critical to permit early surgical intervention prolonging survival.

Current Concepts in Primary Eye Care

This one-day course is designed as a continuing education course for optometry, with a balanced assessment of clinically relevant advances in eye care. The course will be taught by Mayo Clinic ophthalmologists and optometrists, and will feature lectures and interactive discussions with participating optometrists. The symposium will cover a variety of topics in contemporary eye care. The course will also feature one non-ophthalmologic Mayo Clinic physician presenting a lecture of topical interest.
