Clinical Update in Thrombosis and Anticoagulation

An estimated 37 million patients are affected by thrombotic disorders each year. This number will continue to rise with the increase in our aging population. Clinical Update in Thrombosis and Anticoagulation will focus on clinically applicable and cutting-edge methods used in the evaluation of patients with arterial and venous thrombotic disorders. This 2-day conference will include information on advances in the evaluation and management of common thrombotic disorders as well as specific aspects of uncommon thrombotic diseases. Lectures and case studies will be presented by Mayo Clinic faculty, and ample opportunity will be provided to ask questions and discuss difficult diagnostic or management issues.

Mayo Clinic Presents: Cardiology and Cancer Care for the Primary Care Physician

This three day course is designed to improve and update the knowledge of primary care providers in evidenced-based management of patients with a variety of cardiac or cancer diseases. Cardiology topics will include cardiovascular risk reduction, selecting stress tests, sleep disorders risk and preoperative clearance. Putting Prevention into Practice Preventing Cardiovascular Disease in the Clinical Setting

Putting Prevention into Practice is an innovative two-day course focusing on preventive cardiology for individual practitioners, nurse practitioners and allied health personnel involved in preventive cardiology clinics. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. It is important to integrate the screening and treatment of risk factors for cardiovascular disease in the health care of patients.
The course will be practical in nature and teach participants how to use existence evidence-based medicine and “best practice consensus” where evidence is not yet solid. Audience participation will be encouraged in a variety of ways including electronic audience response system, case-based format, question and answer sessions, and extended moderated discussion sessions. In addition to classroom work, additional learning opportunities of a more experiential nature will be provided including a moderated lunch featuring information on nutrition and food preparation presented by an endocrinologist/nutritionist and executive chef and an evening exercise session featuring options for cardiovascular fitness, yoga, and tai chi.

Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Risk: State of the Art
