Care of patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) has become increasingly complex as new drugs have been approved for the disease with limited knowledge of their long-term risks and benefits. This course will summarize the current therapies and offer guidance on how to use them. This course will also provide evidence and strategies regarding a multidisciplinary team approach. Multiple Sclerosis 2013: Update and Practical Management Strategies is designed to update the entire multidisciplinary team, including specialists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and social workers, who have an interest in MS multidisciplinary care. Presentations will focus on practical clinical management of MS and MS variants such as neuromyelitis optica, and include the latest clinical and laboratory research. Case vignettes will illustrate evidence-based, practical approaches to multidisciplinary MS care. There will be ample opportunity for interaction with course faculty.
