Psychiatric Pharmacogenomics

This course will assist clinicians in learning how to use new biotechnological tools to assist in the choice of the right medicine at the right dose for the right patient. Some of the biotechnologies discussed will be Cytochrome P450 testing, and understanding the genes involved in the metabolic pathways of various psychotropic drugs.

Pain Management: A state-of-the-Art Course in Pain Management for the Non-Pain Specialist

Arrhythmias & the Heart

Mayo Echocardiography Review Course
March 15 - 18, 2008

Review of entire areas of Echocardiography designed for Echo Board which takes place in early June of each year as well as for review for practicing clinicians. Mayo Echocardiography Review Course will provide the cardiologist, echocardiographer, cardiology fellow, and cardiac sonographer with an overview of all aspects of cardiovascular ultrasound with a practical and clinical disease oriented focus. Well-known experts in each field will give in-depth didactic lectures on state-of-the-art subjects in adult echocardiography pertaining particularly to integration of echocardiographic data into clinical practice. Each lecture will be followed by or will include multiple “review”and “Board”type questions and answer sessions facilitated by an instantaneous electronic Audience Response System. Although this course is designed as a comprehensive review of echocardiography, it will also provide the cardiologist with an update on latest knowledge and advances in clinical echocardiography. The full practice of adult echocardiography will be reviewed, ranging from understanding how basic ultrasound physiology influences clinical imaging, to the latest in quantitative assessment of ventricular and valvular function as well as the clinical application of newer techniques such as strain and strain rate imaging. Special clinical case based sessions/symposia will focus on specific diseases such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, and valvular heart disease. In addition, hemodynamic data interpretation and "echo math" calculations will be presented in a workshop format.

This course reviews the changing concepts in the care of the mature woman. A series of case-based lectures includes the latest knowledge about the unique aspects of medical care for the menopausal woman.
