Minimally Invasive Surgery Series 2005

Advanced Radiology Life Support Course
January 15, 2005
The Advanced Radiology Life Support Course is designed to focus on the unique, life-threatening emergencies that occur within a radiology department. It is designed to teach prompt recognition and treatment of contrast reactions, management of the sedated patient, the proper management of an airway in an emergency situation, and basic concepts of advanced life support. This course will offer Basic Life Support (BLS) recertification and is fashioned after the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course that has been successful in teaching physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel patient management during cardiac arrest. Hands-on clinical stations as well as didactic instructions will be used. The ARLS, sedation, and BLS training materials included in this course were used to train physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel at the Mayo Clinic prior to a JCAHO site visit. 12th Annual State of the Art Symposium on Arrythmias and the Heart
January 20 - 22, 2005
Designed for cardiologists, internists, family practitioners and cardiovascular nurse specialists, the "12th Annual State-of-the-Art Symposium: Arrhythmias and the Heart" will explore approaches to diagnosis, management and prevention of common arrhythmias and a special session on heart failure and arrhythmias. Mayo Clinic and invited faculty will share "pearls" to aid in the evaluation and assessment of patients with cardiac arrhythmias. Course highlights will include a special mini-symposium on atrial fibrillation, a special session on heart failure and arrhythmias and case management discussions that emphasize preferred treatment options, including pharmacologic approaches, utilization of medical devices and catheter ablation.
