Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Cite relevant recent literature as it pertains to inpatient care
  • Select the most appropriate anticoagulant medication for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation or VTE
  • Manage patients with severe bleeding who are on the newer anticoagulant medications
  • Explain how to bridge patients who need to come off the newer anticoagulation medications
  • Review methods of noninvasive ventilation strategies
  • Identify mimickers of cellulitis
  • Utilize a more thoughtful approach to breaking bad news
  • Determine the appropriate treatment for Clostridium difficile infection
  • Describe the care of patients with oncologic emergencies
  • Summarize current, evidence-based approaches to common inpatient conditions
