This course is a successful multidisciplinary breast update at Mayo Clinic including co-course directors and experts from all Mayo sites. The course location rotates between the three sites and has been an annual Continuous Professional Development offering since 2006. The course content covers knowledge and expertise across the spectrum of benign and malignant breast disease.
The course program includes a pre-conference workshop on radioactive seed localization breast surgery and a three-day general session, which provides a multidisciplinary update in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant breast disease and survivorship issues.

Pre-conference workshop: Radioactive Seed Localization Breast Surgery: An Alternative to Wire Localization
This pre-course hands-on workshop for surgeons, radiologists and radiation safety officers provides a simulated environment for the placement of live seeds in the breast cancer patient. The workshop consists of didactic as well as hands-on skills sessions. Radiation safety officers may attend either skills session. Transportation will be provided to and from the Westin Resort for the hands-on portion of this workshop.
