Scholarship Information

Scholarship Nomination Request for the Mayo Interventional Cardiology Board Review Course

We are inviting you to participate in a “scholarship program” to enhance the preparation for the Interventional Cardiology Boards of the trainees in your training program.

We and others have found that fellows are able to obtain a comprehensive view of a broad range of subjects by frequent interaction and discussion with their peers.  One successful tactic has been to identify a suitable fellow to be responsible for running frequent “board review” sessions with their peers.

We would like to support this concept by offering a “scholarship” to exceptional fellows to attend our Mayo Clinic Interventional Cardiology Board Review Course .  This course is an extensive three-day course, which covers all areas of interventional cardiology through both didactic teaching as well as interactive board simulation question/answer sessions.  We are offering a “scholarship program”, in which outstanding fellows, who will be starting their interventional cardiology fellowship in your program in July 2008, will be eligible.  Each successful applicant will receive free tuition to the 2008 Mayo Interventional Cardiology Board Review Course as well as a DVD set of the 2007 lectures.  Included will be a complete syllabus of the slide material presented at the course. It would be envisioned that this fellow takes this information back to their institution and conduct teaching and discussion sessions with his/her peers.

If you would be interested in proposing one of your outstanding fellows for this program, please send a Letter of Recommendation (including the candidate’s name and contact information) to: ICBR Scholarship by fax at 507-538-7234, e-mail: Stromberg.Jerrica@mayo.edu or mail to: Attn: ICBR Scholarship, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, CME Department, Plummer 2-60, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905. Included in this letter should be information regarding their level of training and confirmation that they will be commencing their interventional fellowship in July 2008. The selection process will be based upon the qualities of 1) knowledge of cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology, 2) interest in education and 3) leadership that the fellow has been able to demonstrate.  The deadline for receipt of the letter is June 2, 2008 and we will complete the selection process by June 16, 2008.

Sincerely,

Gregory W. Barsness, MD
