This course is intended for cardiologists and cardiovascular fellows.
Course Description
This three-day course highlights interventional cardiology topics and information with practical application in studying for board certification in interventional
cardiology.
The session covers basic aspects of interventional cardiology, including catheterization laboratory equipment, radiation physics and safety, pharmacology and procedural planning and performance. Specific patient, lesion and procedural characteristics are highlighted, including a review of challenging cases.
Special Sessions include: Hands-On Heart Anatomical Specimen Review with William D. Edwards, M.D. and Mock Exam using ABIM Interventional Cardiology Module
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, the participants should be able to:
- Formulate invasive treatment plans based on patient characteristics.
- Assess patient risk for interventional procedures.
- Diagnose and manage common procedural complications.
- Identify state-of-the-art concepts necessary for successful completion of Board Certification testing in interventional cardiology.
