10th Annual Course: 2013 Mayo Clinic EUS Summit and Principles and Pearls in Pancreatology

Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

EUS Summit:

  • Establish the T, N and M stages for luminal tumors and pancreatic cancer
  • Differentiate the various types of cystic pancreatic tumors
  • Identify the utility of EUS for evaluating patients with chronic pancreatitis
  • Differentiate the various subepithelial mass lesions
  • Recognize the technical aspects and role of interventional EUS procedures
  • Demonstrate proper technique for EUS guided biopsy (cytology and histology)

Principles and Pearls in Pancreatology:

  • Discuss the art of clinical decision making in pancreatic disease
  • Review the basics of pancreas imaging (CT and MRI) and its role in diseases
  • Review pancreatic pathology and how it correlates with clinical presentation
  • Identify the appropriate use of endoscopic and non-endoscopic approaches to diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic diseases
  • Discuss the indications and techniques of surgical management of pancreatic diseases
