Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Design a nutrition, physical activity, behavioral and/or pharmacologic approach for overweight and obese patients
  • Identify the medical, behavioral and surgical approach for patients with medically complicated obesity
  • Analyze the components of healthy eating
  • Identify helpful nutrition apps
  • Evaluate macronutrient content of popular diets used by patients
  • Identify common medical conditions associated with obesity, including heart disease and diabetes
  • Describe features of adult learning, wellness coaching and preventive services that can be applied in clinical practice
  • Assess the potential benefits and risks of selected herbs and supplements and know how to find needed information for patient care
