Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the optimal management of thyroid cancers including the role of surgery, radioiodine and tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
  • Manage the patient with thyroid dysfunction in special circumstances such as pregnancy, infertility and adverse drug effect.
  • Evaluate strategies to optimize bone health in menopause, aging and in patients with cancer.
  • Discuss current recommendations for optimizing health and sexual function in postmenopausal women.
  • Summarize the approach to the patient with hypoglycemia due to insulinoma and post bariatric surgery.
  • Critique current approaches to prevention and management of diabetes mellitus.
  • Describe the endocrinologist’s role in addressing obesity at the national, local and individual patient level.
  • Describe the peri-operative management of the patient with endocrine disease.
  • Summarize approaches to shared decision-making and improving adherence in the endocrine patient.
  • Examine the use of MRI, ultrasound and interventional radiology in patients with endocrine disorders.
