   Advances in Technology and Understanding of Esophageal Diseases Live Courses

   Esophageal disease is a rapidly-developing area marked by significant advances in diagnosis, therapy and identification of new diseases. In this course, a comprehensive approach will be taken to explore these exciting advancements including high-resolution manometry and impedance monitoring, new techniques in endoscopic detection and treatment of Barrett's esophagus, and insights into new diseases such as eosinophilic esophagitis. Faculty will include esophageal experts from all Mayo Clinic campuses. A special feature of this program is a hands-on workshop for interpretation and performance of motility studies, new endoscopic imaging techniques, endoscopic mucosal resection and ablation, and transnasal endoscopy. Participants will rotate through each of the following stations: EMR cap technique, EMR ligation, radiofrequency ablation, cryotherapy, motility, and transnasal endoscopy.

   Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology & Hepatology 2013 Live Courses

   This course is designed to update physicians practicing in gastroenterology and hepatology and other health care providers on new approaches to the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Faculty will present data on multiple topics, including inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, general GI, motility and nutrition, pancreaticobiliary disorders, endoscopy and hepatology. Controversies in diagnosis and management will be analyzed in discussions and breakout sessions. Complex endoscopy cases and cutting edge technology will be presented by expert endoscopists in a video forum. New endoscopic techniques will be available at the Hands-On Endoscopy Workshop using state-of-the-art technology. An audience response system and social media (twitter) will be utilized for interactive learning by the participants.    10th Annual EUS Course & Principles and Pearls in Pancreatology 2013 Live Courses

   This course is designed to provide endosonographers, gastroenterologists, and other health care providers at all levels of experience a comprehensive multidisciplinary review of endoscopic ultrasound. Nationally renowned experts from varying fields, including Gastroenterology, Pancreatology, Hepatology, Surgery (thoracic, abdominal, colorectal), Oncology, Pulmonology, Radiology and Endosonography, will discuss the impact and role of EUS in their practice. A moderator will oversee live case demonstrations and use this opportunity for lively exchange between the faculty and course particpants. A video forum and "EUS Jeopardy Quiz" will be presented with round table discussion. Attendees will also have the opportunity for an "in-The-Room" experience that will facilitate interaciton with the faculty and enhance the overall edeucational experience. Finally, during a hands-on animal lab, the faculty will work closely with attendees to emphasize technical aspects of performing EUS and demonstrate the use of standard equipment and new devices.

This symposium is being offered in Second Life and will feature the same leading experts who are presenting at the onsite symposium in real time. This course offers presentations and discussions of topics in gastroenterology and hepatology, with a focus on cutting-edge information that has direct clinical impact. The faculty examine new data, procedures and techniques, and guide attendees in determining the role of these applications in their practice. Note the Second Life virtual course does not include the afternoon breakout sessions, ACG module, or the hands on Endoscopy lab.

   State of the Art Small Bowel Imaging: Review and Hand-on Tutorial Live Courses

   State of the Art Small Bowel Imaging: Review and Hands-on Tutorial is designed to provide a comprehensive appraisal of CT and MR techniques for the evaluation of small bowel disorders. World leaders in small bowel imaging will present the clinical rationale for and benefits of imaging, exam technique and CT/MR imaging findings for a variety of small bowel disorders. State-of-the-art lectures will highlight emerging trends and developing technology currently utilized in clinical practice. Each module will be highlighted by hands-on, interactive experiences on personal laptop computer workstations with review of actual cases, from the teaching libraries developed by Mayo Clinic Radiology and GI Departments. Group and individual review of cases will be led by the faculty. Scientific sessions offered the first two days of the course will highlight ongoing research in Crohn's imaging, integration of imaging into management and treatment decisions, enteroclysis technique, MR pulse sequences, and CT dose reduction and image quality.
