   Retina Cases with Fluorescein Angiography and Imaging (Retina CFAN) Live Courses

   Each retina specialist at this course will present his or her experiences with rare cases or rare complications of common cases seen in the last year, followed by a group discussion. In this manner each participant learns from the experiences of the other colleagues and by the end, the combined experience of everyone has helped increase the ability of each participant to diagnose and deal with rare situations. This interactive experience is not obtained in other retina conferences which usually recapitulate results of large studies without speaking to rare diseases or rare manifestations of common diseases. In addition, the limited number of participants (up to 40) allows for more active participation by all the participants. This unique format allows all the participants to be both teachers and students. William Mieler, MD will be the guest invited participant.

   Neuro-Ophthalmology Review Live Courses

   The course will review multiple topics in clinical neuro-ophthalmology. The first day will consist of didactic lectures by experts in neuro-ophthalmology on various topics including giant cell arteritis, nystagmus, optic nerve sheath meninigioma, pseudotumor cerebri, third nerve palsy and the treatment of diplopia. On the second day, cases of common neuro-ophthalmologic problems will be presented to our panel who will discuss their practical approach to patient evaluation and management. Problems presented will include optic neuritis, neuroretinitis, neuromyelitis optica, ischemic optic neuropathy, hereditary optic neuropathy, anisocoria, diplopia, nystagmus and myasthenia gravis. The day will also include a session on the clinical/neuro-radiologic correlation of several neuro-ophthalmologic disease processes. The third day will start with case presentations by retina experts attempting to sort out the occasionally difficult question of "Is it optic nerve or is it retina?" as a cause of visual loss. The rest of the session will consist of multiple unusual case presentations with many useful clinical pearls presented by our expert neuro-ophthalmologists.    Mayo Clinic Retina Update & Case Conference Live Courses

   As clinical trials broaden our understanding of retinal diseases, how do we apply this knowledge to the care of each individual patient? The options for treatment of retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and retinal detachments are evolving at a rapid pace. There are currently several treatment options available to tackle these diseases, and the choice and timing of which treatment to use can be confusing. This course aims to update retina specialists and practicing ophthalmologists about the current state-of-the-art treatment options available for the management of retinal diseases.

   Current Concepts in Primary Eye Care Live Courses

   This one-day course is designed as a continuing education course in optometry, with a balanced assessment of clinically relevant advances in eye care. The course will be taught by Mayo Clinic ophthalmologists and optometrists, and will feature lectures and interactive discussions with participating optometrists. The symposium will cover a variety of topics in contemporary eye care. The course will also feature one non-ophthalmologic Mayo Clinic physician presenting a lecture of topical interest.
