   The Mayo Clinic Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) offers online continuing education courses regarding clinical and translational research. These courses cover a wide range of topics, such as engaging in community research projects, developing a research proposal, understanding and using statistics, designing research studies and much more. Modules are designed for all health care providers (e.g., physicians, scientists, nurses, allied health staff, etc.). Courses are free to access but require a $15 fee to obtain CME credit.    Diagnostic Imaging Update and Self-Assessment Live Courses

   Join us in Dana Point, California, for Mayo Clinic's "Diagnostic Imaging Update and Self-Assessment" continuing medical education program. This course will provide practicing radiologists, residents and fellows-in-training with a review of state-of-the-art imaging techniques. The general course will be held Monday - Friday, July 29 - August 2, 2013. An optional ARLS Workshop will be offered on Sunday, July 28. The general course and workshop will offer participants an opportunity to complete self-assessment modules (SAMs), which are now required by the American Board of Radiology for maintenance of board certification.

   This optional group learning session is taught by expert Mayo Clinic physician and health systems engineering faculty. The course provides knowledge in quality improvement concepts and methods. There are no prerequisites for this course. Through interactive and case-based activities, faculty guide learners through the application of basic quality tools such as Pareto, control charts, and cause and effect diagrams. Quality improvement strategies such as Lean and Six Sigma also are discussed. Content is designed to showcase process improvement capability as well as its applicability to health care. Additionally, the session describes how to actively participate in a quality improvement project; and identify, measure, and prioritize opportunities for improvement. Following the session, participants can complete the 25-question Applied Quality Essentials self-assessment and pay the required fee via this website.

   Applied Quality Essentials - Enduring Material (Blackboard) Live/Blackboard

   The Applied Quality Essentials is a learning and self-assessment activity and aims to evaluate the physician’s knowledge in quality improvement concepts and methods. There are no prerequisites for this course. The Applied Quality Essentials is offered as an online 25-question test with two versions. Test A and Test B versions will each contain 25 distinct questions but will test to the same curriculum and can be taken as open book tests. Education credit will be awarded if the participant achieves a score 80% or greater on either Test A or Test B. The learner’s choices along with the correct responses for each question, will be provided at the conclusion of the test as well as an overall performance score and the rationale for the correct answer and/or relevant references to educational content.
