Course Description
This is a multidisciplinary educational course focusing on enteral and parenteral
nutrition, diabetes, osteoporosis, lipids and obesity. Case studies and workshops
provide ample opportunity for interaction with faculty. Attendees will leave with
relevant information which they can immediately use in their clinical practice.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Identify methods to diagnose and nutritionally manage patients with gastrointestinal illness, including those patients with acute and chronic pancreatitis, celiac disease, short bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease.
- Identify and treat complications of enteral and parenteral feeding.
- Discuss safety issues with enteral access.
- Evaluate medical and surgical treatment options for obesity.
- Counsel patients on diet modification after bariatric surgery.
- Assess and treat hospital associate malnutrition.

Intended Audience
This course is designed for primary care physicians, gastroenterologists, endocrinologists,
nurses, pharmacists, dietitians and others on the nutritional support
team for both hospital and ambulatory settings.
