Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Apply the latest cardiovascular guidelines to improve overall morbidity and mortality rates
  • Demonstrate practice changes to reduce care costs for patients with obesity and heart disease
  • Explain guidelines to increase preventive care for patients with cardiovascular diseases
  • Review indications, use and limitations of advanced device therapy for congestive heart failure
  • Apply current guidelines for anticoagulation in the treatment of atrial fibrillation
  • Explain how to use new anticoagulants in atrial fibrillation and deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Apply current guidelines in the treatment of ventricular tachycardia
  • Identify barrier-preventing application of cardiovascular guidelines
  • Recognize appropriate criteria for coronary revascularization of moderate/ill-defined angiographic lesions
  • Analyze the indications for using left atrial appendage (LAA) and patent foramen ovale (PFO) occluder devices
  • Explain the current indications and contraindications for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
