Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Illustrate ideal management of surgical treatment of shock
  • Examine patient selection for mechanical circulatory support
  • Compare the current limitations for surgical versus percutaneous revascularization
  • Examine ideal patient selection for percutaneous repair of valvular heart disease
  • Identify the state-of-the-art surgical and medical approached to acutely decomepensated heart failure
  • Review appropriate utilization of ICD and resynchronization therapy in heart failure management
  • Conclude surgical and medical limitations and treatment options for atrial fibrillation
  • Analyze state-of-the-art treatment approaches for patients with variable clinical presentations of acutely decompensated heart failure as it relates to mechanical circulatory support, cardiac transplantation, resynchronization therapy, pulmonary arterial hypertension and high-risk cardiovascular surgery
