Essentials of Radiology: A Mayo Clinic Review is designed for radiology residents, as well as practicing radiologists who desire a comprehensive review of diagnostic radiology and its subspecialty areas.
Mayo Clinic Department of Radiology has 130 staff radiologists practicing in all radiologic subspecialties, performing over 900,000 exams each year. This volume of cases coupled with the most modern imaging techniques has allowed the Department of Radiology to compile a vast image library. The course will provide a complete review of radiologic techniques and differentials.
Mayo Clinic Department of Radiology experts will conduct a series of didactic lectures combined with a thorough review of unknown cases. A unique feature of this course will be online access to the talks and syllabus. The presentations will be available on an online course web page allowing the participant to view the lectures from their laptop computer during the presentations. This will bring the images right to the participant allowing for better visualization of even the most discrete findings. Unknown cases will also be available on the course web page to allow the participant to view these prior to each section at their convenience. Access to the course web page will remain open following the course for further review and referencing.

Echo Fiesta: An In-depth Review of Adult Echocardiography for Sonographers and Physicians

Echo Fiesta is designed to provide a practical review of the current uses and limitations of two-dimensional echocardiography, Doppler and color flow imaging in the assessment of adult myocardial, ischemic, pericardial and valvular disease. Traditional topics in the field of echocardiography including the assessment of systolic and diastolic function, quantitative Doppler, and stress echocardiography will be presented. In addition, newer techniques including 3D Echo and Doppler and 2D strain imaging will be presented. The program will concentrate on practical points regarding daily use of these techniques with illustrative examples from a wide variety of cardiovascular disorders.

Transoral Laser Microsurgery for Head and Neck Cancer

Mayo Clinic’s "Transoral Laser Microsurgery for Head and Neck Cancer" is designed to give Otolaryngologists, Head and Neck Surgeons, and Head and Neck Oncologists a focused educational experience in transoral endoscopic techniques to resect primary head and neck tumors. Transoral laser microsurgery will be the primary focus with additional education in other transoral techniques including robotics.
This course will feature renowned guest and Mayo Clinic faculty, didactic lectures supplemented with video clips, live surgical cases and case discussions. Topics include:
Indications, techniques and outcomes
Principles of tumor exposure
Benefits of various laser wavelengths
Instrumentation including fiber technology and robotics
Appropriate patient selection

Role of transoral surgery in the multidisciplinary treatment model of care
On Saturday, April 17, 2010, an optional hands-on workshop will provide participants with opportunities to perform various transoral procedures with laser technologies and delivery systems on both animal and human cadaveric models. Faculty will emphasize fundamental transoral laser microsurgery techniques and wound exposure, as well as feature other transoral techniques. Workshop participants will return to their clinical practice with experience in the art of tumor exposure using various retractors and appropriate and safe use of multiple laser and other transoral systems. Enrollment in the workshop is limited so plan to register early!

The 19th Annual Urogynecology and Disorders of the Female Pelvic Floor General Session returns as a three-day course, presenting the latest in treatment for urogynecology and female pelvic floor disorders. It is designed for gynecologic and urologic surgeons, allied health staff, and medical practitioners with an interest in the current treatments for pelvic floor dysfunction, surgical management of urinary and fecal incontinence, overactive bladder, and repair of pelvic organ prolapse. The course offers didactic lectures, live surgery video transmissions of advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, surgical case presentations and panel discussions. The format also includes use of the interactive keypad system, which provides immediate feedback, providing an optimal learning experience for question interaction between the speaker and course participants.
Optional Preconference: Core Lectures in Female Urology and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction - The one-day optional course emphasizes core education in female urology and pelvic floor dysfunction. anatomy, pathophysiology, evaluation, and management of urinary incontinence are reviewed in detail. T. Denny Sanford Pediatric Symposium 2010

We have designed this course for primary care clinicians in the region including primary care pediatricians, family physicians, physician-associates, nurse practitioners who care for children or adolescents in primary care settings including acute care facilities. Topics were generated from gap analyses of knowledge, skills, practice, and outcomes, and they concern developmental screening, neonatal jaundice, developmental delay, adrenal disorders, otitis media, failure to thrive, migraine and chronic daily headache, pediatric mental health issues, sports injuries, brain tumors, persistent diarrhea, adolescent hypertension, childhood depression, sudden death in athletes, and pediatric resuscitation. Speakers hail from Mayo Clinic and Sanford Health and the event is sponsored in part from a generous gift from T Denny Sanford. Presentations will include twenty-minute interactive presentations with five minutes discussion to follow, two thirty-minute poster session of 30 minutes in length featuring joint research efforts at the two institutions, and a luncheon lecture:50 minutes in length with 10 minutes discussion to follow. The program will include pre- and post-testing with audience response as well as post-course follow-up to enable incorporation of learning into practice.
