Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation is seeking two Service Design Strategist (Lead Design Researchers) in Rochester, Minn.
The center hires exceptionally talented individuals to join its team of design pioneers working to at the intersection of design and medicine. You will be responsible for determining and proposing solutions for issues with significant financial and operational impact to the organization.
The Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation is the only embedded design group integrated into a live clinical practice in the world. We are currently seeking candidates for two senior positions as Service design Strategists (Lead Designer Researchers) in our Center for Innovation Design Studio.
This is a high-intensity live clinical setting where design and design thinking are used to understand the nature of systemic complexity — tracking measuring and innovating around the patient and caregiver experience — to optimize the potential of our staff and innovate in all aspects of the delivery of care.
Qualifications
The basic qualifications for these positions are:
- Graduate degree in interaction, communications or industrial design, environmental design, service design or a relevant field
- Four years experience planning and managing design projects, teams or other creative ventures; or a Bachelor's degree and eight years industry experience.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the capacity to rapidly develop and maintain an understanding of major operating systems and overall policies, procedures and objectives of the institution. Experience in large institutional environments is a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills should include presentation, negotiation, persuasion, team facilitation and written communications skills are required.
You must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, effectively manage multiple projects and priorities, and possess exceptional interpersonal, presentation, persuasion and communication skills. Strong skills and experience with design research tools and methodologies are essential.
