Mayo Alumni CenterMayo Clinic Alumni Center, located on the fifth floor of the Harold W. Siebens Medical Education Building, was dedicated on October 28, 1989, and was made possible by the generosity of Mayo alumni. A goal of $500,000 was raised and exceeded by alumni members to provide a home base for alumni and alumni visitors during their stay in Rochester. The center includes a reception area, offices for the Mayo Alumni Association, and two rooms that may be used as an office for alumni, for meetings or reading. "World" MapLocated within the Mayo Clinic Alumni Center is the artwork entitled, "World" by Caprice "Cappy" Kueffner-Glaser. Ms. Glaser used 11 different types of wood to create "World," which provides an artistic representation of the locations of Mayo-trained physicians, scientists and educators. Among the types of wood in the map are: birch (Venezuela), butternut (Greenland), cherry (Finland), soft maple (Brazil), sharkwood (France), walnut (Soviet Union), and white oak (the oceans of the world).
