The Plummer Society

The PLUMMER SOCIETY, founded in honor of Dr. Henry J. Plummer, promotes the continuation and diffusion of knowledge in the fine art and science of internal medicine and medical  subspecialties. Aligned with the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association, membership is open to physicians who have trained in Mayo Graduate School of Medicine internal medicine and subspecialty residencies. Mayo Clinic Faculty who have not trained at the institution are also eligible for membership in The Plummer Society after one year. The Society will be governed by elected officers consisting of the president, president-elect, vice president, secretary/treasurer, and six council members. Biennial meetings will be held in conjunction with the International Meeting of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association.

The Plummer Society Award for Excellence

This Plummer Society Award for Excellence is given to an individual to honor excellence and unique contributions to Internal Medicine and Subspecialties in practice, education, research or administration.

Criteria:

  • Member of Mayo Clinic Alumni Association
  • Has demonstrated a commitment to the field of Internal Medicine and/or related subspecialties
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring future generations of practitioners or scientists
  • Significant achievement in chosen field of internal medicine or subspecialties
  • Influential in their field
  • Contributed to the science in their field
  • Unique contributions to their field of interest in medicine; practice, education, practice or administration

Award components:

  • Business class travel expenses to receive the award
  • Two nights stay in hotel
  • Meeting registration fee waived
  • Award Plaque:
    • Individual award will be given
    • Master plaque to be displayed in the DOM

Award Requirements:

  • Must be present to receive the award - at Mayo Clinic Alumni Association biennial and The Plummer Society meeting
