Mayo Clinic is a leader in the treatment of cancer, neurodegenerative
diseases and many other disorders that, in certain forms, are incurable.
This gives our trainees unique learning environment in which they
can immediately apply acquired knowledge and skills.
Physicians in the Department of Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic
in Jacksonville provide comprehensive medical evaluations and primary
care for Jacksonville-area patients of all ages. The Mayo Primary
Care Centers include onsite laboratory and X-ray facilities.
The Family Medicine staff at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville includes
three physicians who specialize in palliative care. Each consultant
has considerable experience in evaluating and treating chronically
and terminally ill patients and each has his own particular interests,
expertise and approach to patient diagnosis and management. All
fellows have found this varied exposure very educational, which
then allows fellows to develop their own style for evaluating and
managing patients.
The staff has collectively published hundreds of manuscripts in
peer-reviewed journals and contributed towards many well-known books.

the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published

educational advice and personal support. The adviser also serves

and the communities in which you will train.
Visiting Professors
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present
their work during morning and late afternoon lectures. Residents
and fellows are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities
to interact with experts from other academic centers and are relieved
from clinical assignments to do so.
