 Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Ariz., opened in 1987 as a premier academic medical center in the southwestern United States where medical research and education are fully integrated with delivering the highest-quality patient care.
In Arizona, Mayo Clinic offers services in more than 65 specialty and surgical disciplines, including programs in cancer treatment and organ transplantation. The highly advanced Mayo Clinic Hospital in northeast Phoenix opened in 1998 and is the first hospital entirely designed and built by Mayo Clinic. Since opening in Scottsdale in 1987, Mayo Clinic has evolved into an integrated multi-campus system that includes Mayo Clinic, the Mayo Clinic Collaborative Research Building and the Samuel C. Johnson Research Building and in Scottsdale, as well as Mayo Clinic Hospital and Mayo Clinic Specialty Building in northeast Phoenix.

Facilities
- The five-story outpatient clinic on the Scottsdale campus includes approximately 425 exam and procedure rooms, an outpatient surgery center equipped for general anesthesia, a full-service laboratory, a pharmacy, a patient-education library, an endoscopy suite, a 188-seat auditorium for patient- and physician-education programs and a multilevel parking garage.
- A concourse level offers amenities and services to patients, such as a gift shop and a lounge area with televisions, telephones and vending machines.
- A 124-room hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, is located on the Scottsdale campus.
- Mayo Clinic Hospital is located at 56th Street and Mayo Boulevard (north of Bell Road) in northeast Phoenix. Mayo Clinic patients who require hospitalization are admitted to Mayo Clinic Hospital and are cared for by Mayo Clinic physicians. The seven-story facility has 244 licensed beds and full emergency room/urgent care services.
- Also on the Phoenix campus is the Mayo Clinic Specialty Building, a new 172,775 square foot outpatient clinic building. Funded largely by Mayo Clinic benefactors, the building will increase Mayo's treatment capacity and enhance patient convenience.
